ELDRITCH: In Mixing Mode
February 9, 2007Italian progressive-aggressive metal band ELDRITCH entered Bigwave studios on December 1 to begin recording its seventh album, entitled "Blackenday". According to a posting on the group's web site, the CD "is [currently] getting mixed by R.D. Liapakis at Music Factory studios in Germany and then will be mastered by Christian Schmid in the same studio. 15 killer tracks are ready and kicking. On the song 'Broken Road' there are two talented special guests such as Ray Alder (FATES WARNING, REDEMPTION, ENGINE) and Nicholas Van Dyk (REDEMPTION). On all the other tracks you can hear Laura Scappini (IN MEMORY) doing all the backup vocals. Mirco Andreis is the director that just shot the videoclip of the song 'The Blackened Day' on Feb. 5 and 6."
The band previously stated that "the cover artwork this time will be totally different than all the previous releases. It'll be done by Nerve Design (Italy) and it's more a photo work instead of something abstract." A late April release is expected.
As previously reported, ELDRITCH recorded its gigs in Livorno and Milano on October 6-7 for a possible live CD.
ELDRITCH made its U.S. live debut at the Chicago Powerfest 2006. The fourth annual metal fest featuring both veteran and up-and-coming bands from various sub-genres of metal was held April 7-8, 2006 in Chicago Heights, IL.
